Lifelong ambition

Today I realised a lifelong ambition when I arrived at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre. For those who haven’t heard of it it’s a residential workplace for local, national, and international artists of all disciplines and cultures. It’s a beautiful, stately house situated on the banks of Annaghmakerrig lake on the Cavan/ Monaghan border which was donated to the state in 1981. It provides a calm, quiet place for writers, artists and musicians to spend some time dedicating themselves to a work in progress, dining together every evening and discussing their project. I’m using this time to work on my debut novel and, although it’s only my first evening here, I can see it’s going to be great!
